સવજીભાઇ ધોળકિયાએ કંપનીના કર્મચારીઓને અકસ્માતથી બચવા 12 હજાર હેલ્મેટની ભેટ આપી

જાન્યુઆરીથી જૂન 2018 સુધીમાં 142 લોકોનું માર્ગ અકસ્માતમાં મોત થયું હતું. જેમાંથી 41 રાહદારી અને 58 લોકો માત્ર હેલમેટ નહીં પહેરતા મોતને ભેટ્યા હતા. વર્ષ 2008માં હરેકૃષ્ણ ગ્રુપનો એક કર્મચારી દિવાળી વેકેશનની પહેલાં છેલ્લી મીટિંગથી નીકળીને ઘરે જઇ રહ્યો હતો. બોનસથી ખુશખુશાલ આ કર્મચારીને અચાનક વરાછા બ્રિજ પર અકસ્માત નડે છે. હેલમેટના કારણે કર્મચારીનો બચાવ થાય છે. હરેકૃષ્ણ ગ્રુપના ચેરમેન સવજીભાઇ ધોળકિયાએ આ ઘટનાથી પ્રેરિત થઇને પોતાના તમામ 6 હજાર કર્મચારીઓ માટે હેલમેટ પહેરવાનો નિયમ ફરજિયાત કર્યો હતો. જેમાં તેમણે દરેક કર્મચારી દીઠ 2 હેલમેટ આપ્યાં. આમ 6 હજાર કર્મચારીઓ અને તેમના પરિવારની સુરક્ષા માટે હરેકૃષ્ણ ગ્રુપે 12 હજાર હેલમેટ આપ્યાં છે. હેલમેટ વિના પ્રવેશ પણ અપાતો નથી.

Helmets helped prove a company that life is more precious than its diamonds. Owners of Harekrishna Diamonds, Diamonds, who in 2016, had gifted cars to some of their employees as Diwali bonus, chose to give helmets as gifts to their 6,000 employees this year to be passed on to their respective wives. A 30-year-old mother of two children had died in an accident recently when her husband’s motorcycle slipped. The man, who is an employee of Harekrishna Diamonds, was lucky to escape with minor injuries because he was wearing a helmet.

Harekrishna Diamonds’ owner Savji Dholakiya said, “A few years ago we ensured that our workers are free of tobacco addiction. Now, we are instilling in them the sense that they need to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers. Safety of women who ride pillion is very important.”

Rakesh K Vavadiya engineer at Harekrishna Diamonds was going with his wife Dipali in September on a motorcycle. Only Vavadiya was wearing the helmet which proved critical when their motorcycle slipped and both fell down. Dipali suffered head injuries and died later. She was mother to a two-month-old girl and three-year-old boy.

“We soon decided to launch a campaign to create awareness about the need to wear helmets while riding a two-wheeler. A pillion rider, who is mostly a woman, needs to wear helmet, for life is precious,” Dholakiya added.
